Indo-American Arts Council hosts Kailash Kher performance at International House, NYC

The Indo-American Arts Council (IAAC) hosted an evening of music and culture with renowned Indian artist Kailash Kher and his band Kailasa on October 19, 2024, at International House in New York City.

The sold-out concert featured Kailash Kher’s signature soulful vocals and the infectious energy of his band, performing a fusion of Indian folk, Sufi, and contemporary music.

The event drew a diverse audience of music lovers, artists, and dignitaries, including prominent members of the South Asian community and IAAC supporters like India’s Consul General in New York Binaya Srikanta Pradhan, and Padma Shri recipient Dr. Sudhir Parikh, chairman of Parikh Worldwide Media.

Kher took the stage to thunderous applause, opening the night with his hit songs and beloved classics like “Saiyyan” and “Teri Deewani” alongside newer hits that brought the audience to its feet dancing and singing along.

Kher shared anecdotes about his musical journey, his passion for promoting Indian culture globally, and his deep connection to Sufi music.

“We are honored to have presented Kailash Kher and his incredible band to our audiences,” Rajeev Kaul, IAAC board member, is quoted saying in the press release. “His music resonates deeply with people from all walks of life, and tonight’s performance was a powerful reminder of the beauty of cultural exchange through the arts.”

Sunny Thakkar, IAAC’s music festival director described the evening as a “musical experience of a lifetime, filled with joy, emotion, and a deep connection to India’s rich musical heritage.”

Anil Bansal, IAAC Gala Chair, said, “Kailash Kher’s performance is the perfect prelude to the IAAC’s series of upcoming cultural events, including the much-anticipated IAAC Literary Festival and the Renaissance Gala, further cementing IAAC’s role as a vital cultural bridge between India and the United States.”
