One of the many such films that were disallowed from release before the General Elections, Accident or Conspiracy: GODHRA is now releasing on July 12. Since the release of its teaser, the film had faced various hurdles with the censor board. It was kept on hold for a long time, but finally, the censor board has cleared it for release, and actor Sharad Kelkar has announced its release date. The actor is urging people to see the film in a recently-released teaser.

Setting a menacing tone, the first Godhra teaser opens with a striking picture of the Sabarmati Express engulfed in flames. This intense scene sets the stage for a story that explores the murky details of the deadly tragedy. The film explores a troubling period in history that still causes grief and begs questions more than 20 years later. It promises an in-depth examination of the conspiracy underlying the horrifying train attack and pledges to dispel myths and preconceived notions to reveal the real story behind the occurrence. The film stars Rajeev Surti, Manoj Joshi, Hitu Kanodia and Ranvir Shorey.

On this, producer B.J. Purohit said, “Our priority is ensuring that the film reaches audiences at the right time and in the right manner. The censor certificate is a crucial step. We have now met all necessary standards and finally gotten the censor certificate.” The film is based on the report issued by the Nanavati-Mehta Commission, which was set up to investigate the Godhra train fire.

Produced under the banners of OM Trinetra Films and Artverse Studios and directed by M.K Shivaaksh, the drama is based on the events surrounding the 2002 Godhra train fire in Gujarat, India, which later led to the 2002 Gujarat riots.
