Ali’s well, said Richa Chadha to her mom!

In a recent mini-interview for Bombay Times, Richa Chadha recounted her mother’s reaction when she had first announced her relationship with actor-husband Ali Fazal.

Richa said, “When I started dating Ali, my mother sought a clarification on dating a married man with two kids. My mom called me, very alarmed, and said, ‘I don’t know if you know that he is married and that he has two kids?’ I was like ‘What?!’” Her mother replied that the man was from Lahore, and Richa told her, “No, it’s not that guy!”

Yes, mom Chadha had confused one Ali with another—she thought Richa’s man was Pakistani singer-songwriter-actor Ali Zafar, who also acted in Hindi films like Chashme Baddoor, not Ali Fazal, the Fukrey actor who has starred in so many other Indian and international films and is now much married to her!

To add to this tangy happening, Ali Fazal’s character in Fukrey, in which Richa and Ali co-starred and during which they began to date, was named ‘Zafar’!
