Thousands attend joyous India Fair in New Jersey with something for everyone

The much-awaited India Fair organized by Business NJ, saw thousands of visitors over two days May 21 and 22, 2022, come to enjoy the 15^th year of the celebration.

Jasbir Jassi, Indian singer, lyricist, performer and actor, as well as Bollywood singer Shraddha Pandit, made a special appearance as our Chief Guest and Guest of Honor on each day respectively, a press release from organizers said. Both entertainers interacted with their fans and performed their most popular songs. On May 22, there was also a dance competition and kids’ activities to mark the fair.

Visitors enjoyed many other activities at the stage of India Fair.  Local singers and dancers performed Bollywood and ethnic dances and songs.  There was also a special segment for kids’ performance at the stage.

Many leading dance schools of New Jersey featured their best.  The popular dances were Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi and Kathak, classical performances showcased Indian heritage.

There was also an impromptu dance competition from the audience, and many give-aways.

Among the fashion attractions which sold well were the popular “kurti” tops, Silk sarees, dresses, handicrafts, bags, jewelry, bangles, diamond jewelry, one-gram gold jewelry and much more.   RK Jewels of Edison NJ, which displayed real gold and diamond jewelry, was a big attraction, organizers said. Many insurance companies, banks, and variety of vendors came from India and all over United States including California, Ohio, Virginia, New York, etc. Food was a big attraction as well.

India Fair aims at promoting understanding and appreciation of India’s rich culture, craft and culinary arts, the press release said.

The musical attractions were live DJ and singing by well-known local artists in the South Asian Community.

Indian Cuisine, vegetarian and non-vegetarian, was a major attraction at the Fair. Swagath Restaurant of Edison, NJ a leading Indian restaurant, was a popular stall. And the Food Court featured a special mango ‘lassi’ and other North and South Indian popular appetizers and dishes.

Parikh Worldwide Media and ITV Gold, publishers of Desi Talk, were among the sponsors. India Fair has become a feature in New Jersey which has a high concentration of residents who trace their ancestry and heritage to South Asia.
