For the first time, I visited American Blues Theater, Stage 773, located on 1225 W. Belmont Ave. in the heart of Chicago and watched something very interesting: a play of history when all five U.S. Presidents were in the same room at the same time prior to entering the memorial service for President Richard Nixon.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime presentation occurrence, as imagined by “The West Wing” and “House of Cords” writer ensemble member Rick Cleveland, also directed by ensemble member Marty Higginbotham.

Watching over 80 entertaining minutes of dramatized conversation of all five former Presidents in one room really gets you to start thinking on a different political, ideological and cultural awareness.

Five Presidents was commissioned by Milwaukee Rep and premiered there in 2015.

This American Blues production showcases the changes in American presidential politics since, depending on your point of view and party affiliation.

Winner of the American Theater Wing’s prestigious National Theater Company Award, American Blues Theater is a premier arts organization.

In the upcoming winter season, American Blues Theater will present an 18th Anniversary Production of “It’s a Wonderful Life: Live in Chicago!” from Frank Capra’s film.
