Parmesh Bheemreddy from Delaware Sworn-in President of American Telugu Association

The American Telugu association which named Parmesh Bheemreddy of Delaware, as its new President earlier, held his swearing-in ceremony Jan. 19, at its board meeting at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. The ATA board was sworn in at the same time raising the Board of Trustees count from 27 to 31.

According to a press release, Bhuvanesh Boojala from D.C. Metropolitan area was elected unanimously as the President-elect; Venu Sankineni as secretary; Sharath Vemula as joint secretary; Ravi Patlola as treasurer; and Arvind Muppidi as joint treasurer. The Advisory Chair Hanmanth Reddy Garu congratulated the new board and wished them luck in its future endeavors.

Speaking at the board meeting, Bheemreddy vowed to preserve and strengthen the Telugu community across North America and promised to further promote the literary, social, educational and rich cultural values of the community strictly abiding by the constitution of ATA.

Bheemreddy said the ATA under his leadership will focus on areas like immigration, SAT training, Exchange Student onboarding procedures, medical and dental camps for senior citizens and visitors, matrimonial and emergency services. The new ATA Foundation Scholarship program would award 10 scholarships to meritorious students of economically backward classes of $1000 each, he announced, according to a press release from ATA.

The new president thanked the outgoing President Karunakar Asireddy, the executive committee and the board for their contributions and for expanding ATA to new places like Nashville and Boston areas.

Born in Pothireddypadu village of Nagarkurnool district of Telangana, Bheemreddy came to US as a student to pursue higher education in Computer Science. He established a firm and helped many students and professionals from India to settle down in U.S., the press release said.
